Ellen Nolan is a lens-based artist, researcher and lecturer from London. Ellen graduated with a BA in Photography from Nottingham Trent University, UK, and an MFA from Goldsmiths College, London. She has exhibited selected works in, The Photographers Gallery (London), Four Corners Gallery (London), The Arles Photography Festival (France), The Houses of Parliament (London), and The National Portrait Gallery (London) where her work is housed in their collection. Ellen is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Westminster University and a member of the CREAM research group. Ellen is creating practice-based research responding to the family archive of her Great Aunt, who was signed to Paramount in 1933. Her research explores femininity, experience, and objectification in the 1930’s Hollywood Star System, framed through contemporary feminist discourse and practice. Ellen has recently been awarded university scholarships to conduct a practice field trip to L.A.
